TikTok Launches Local Feeds in the US
TikTok is introducing a feature that utilizes GPS location data to curate feeds of localized content for its American users, building on its successful “Nearby Feeds” model that was recently rolled out in the UK and Europe. This marks the first major update for US users since TikTok’s new ownership took effect last month. The app experienced an outage earlier this week, which the company attributed to a technical issue caused by a “cascading systems failure.” The localized feeds will include content related to local travel, events, restaurants, and shopping, as well as posts from small businesses looking to reach a targeted audience. By leveraging precise location data, TikTok aims to provide users with a more tailored experience that is unique to their geographic area.
