Waabi Joins Forces with Uber for Robotaxi Expansion

Waabi, the Toronto-based autonomous trucking startup, is diversifying into robotaxis as part of a strategic partnership with ride-hailing giant Uber. Founded in 2021 by Raquel Urtasun, who previously led Uber’s Advanced Technologies Group, Waabi aims to bring its proprietary AI-centric technology to the burgeoning robotaxis market. After successfully deploying autonomous trucks on commercial delivery routes in Texas, Waabi is now shifting its focus to auto ride-sharing services, where it will partner with Uber to develop and operate a fleet of self-driving vehicles.
