Waymo Suspects Construction Zones as Cause for Sudden Suspension
Waymo has suspended its self-driving service on US freeways due to concerns about construction zones and flooded roads. Citing these safety issues, the company announced that it will no longer be using highways for its robotaxis, instead opting for longer routes through local roads. The decision comes after several incidents in which Waymo’s vehicles were spotted driving at high speeds through flooded Texas streets, prompting a software recall.
