Xbox Leadership Shake-Up Doesn't Signal Studio Layoffs, Says Microsoft
Microsoft Gaming EVP Matt Booty has confirmed that there will be no organizational changes underway for the company’s studios following the departure of outgoing CEO Phil Spencer and new leadership. “We have good reasons to believe in what’s ahead,” Booty wrote in a memo. “This organization and its franchises have navigated considerable challenges and opportunities in recent years, and we’re confident in our ability to continue delivering exceptional gaming experiences.” The statement comes after Sony recently announced the closure of beloved developer Bluepoint Games, leaving fans worried about other studios facing similar fates. Microsoft’s outgoing CEO Phil Spencer has been succeeded by Sarah Bond, who is tasked with leading the company’s gaming efforts forward.
