Ukraine and Russia have engaged in overnight attacks on each other’s territory. Ukrainian military intelligence reported striking two large landing ships in Sevastopol Bay, which are located in Russian-occupied Crimea. The vessels were valued at $150 million and reportedly suffered significant damage.
In response, Ukraine launched drone strikes against Russian assets in the Black Sea ports of Tuapse. According to regional governor Veniamin Kondratiev, the attack resulted in one fatality, one injury, and damage to transport infrastructure. This was the second drone strike on the port in three days.
Russia’s Defence Ministry stated that air defences destroyed 112 Ukrainian drones overnight. Ukraine reported a series of Russian attacks across its territory, including in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, Sumy, and Zaporizhia regions.
In Kyiv, drones struck two homes in the Brovary district, causing damage and injuring one person. Additionally, a car in Putyvl was hit by a drone, injuring three women. In Kharkiv, Russian attacks damaged railway infrastructure.
Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces have reported killing one person and injuring seven others in the Kherson region, while four people were injured in the Zaporizhia region. The United Nations has reported that more than 15,000 Ukrainian civilians have died as a result of Russian strikes since the invasion began over four years ago.
Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, brokered by the United States, have been ongoing but have not resulted in an agreement to stop fighting. The talks were further stalled following the outbreak of the US-Israel war on Iran.
