Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Formula One Grands Prix Cancellation Confirmed
The Formula One Grands Prix scheduled for Bahrain and Saudi Arabia have been set to be cancelled, according to multiple sources. The announcement is expected by Monday at the latest, with a March 20 deadline looming for freight transportation to Bahrain due to logistical reasons.
The races were originally scheduled for April 12 and April 19, respectively. However, it has been confirmed that neither event will be rescheduled or replaced. As a result, the championship will be reduced to 22 rounds, leaving April with an empty calendar.
Formula One is currently racing in China this weekend, following the opener in Australia last weekend. The Japanese Grand Prix is scheduled for March 29, and the next race will take place in Miami on May 3.
The World Endurance Championship (WEC) has also made changes to its schedule. Its season-opener in Qatar was postponed from March 26-28 to April 19, with the first race now set for Italy’s Imola circuit. The WEC’s Qatar round has been rescheduled for October 24, as the penultimate round before the finale in Bahrain on November 7.
Additionally, MotoGP’s round in Qatar is also likely to be cancelled due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
