Barcelona Star Sustains Injury in La Liga Win
Lamine Yamal, a key player for Barcelona, suffered an injury during the club’s match against Celta Vigo on Wednesday. The 18-year-old forward scored the winning goal in the 40th minute, but immediately stopped playing due to pain in his left hamstring.
According to reports, Yamal is believed to have sustained a torn hamstring, although further diagnosis will be made after scans scheduled for Thursday. Barcelona coach Hansi Flick expressed concern about the injury, stating that the team’s medical staff would need to wait until then to determine the extent of the damage.
Yamal’s teammate, Pedri, offered support for his injured teammate, saying “Hopefully Lamine will only miss a few weeks.” The goal Yamal scored was his 16th in 28 La Liga matches this season and led Barcelona to a 1-0 win over Celta Vigo. This victory has put the team nine points ahead of second-place Real Madrid in the league standings.
The injury raises questions about its potential impact on Spain’s chances at the upcoming World Cup. Spain is scheduled to play in Group H matches on June 15 and June 21, followed by a match against Uruguay on June 26. Yamal has been an important contributor to the Spanish national team, scoring six goals in 25 appearances.
