Legendary Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle Dies at 92

Asha Bhosle, a renowned Indian vocalist, passed away on Sunday in Mumbai at the age of 92. According to her family, she had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital for treatment of “extreme exhaustion” and a chest infection.

Bhosle’s son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed her passing to reporters, stating that her funeral will be held tomorrow at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. The news has also been met with condolences from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who described Bhosle’s death as “deeply saddened”.

Throughout her seven-decade career, Bhosle recorded over 12,000 songs in multiple Indian languages. Her contributions to Bollywood music are widely recognized.

Bhosle was a two-time Grammy nominee and had established herself as a prominent figure in the Indian music industry. The cause of her death has not been officially disclosed.
