Two NASA astronauts have completed a spacewalk at the International Space Station (ISS) to repair a malfunctioning component of the station’s robotic arm.
According to footage, the astronauts exited the ISS to perform the maintenance task. The issue with the robotic arm involved a faulty wrist joint that failed during normal operations and did not function as expected.
The repair process took approximately 7 hours and 20 minutes to complete. During this time, the astronauts worked outside the station to replace the malfunctioning joint with a new one.
Details of the spacewalk are currently available through footage captured by cameras on board the ISS. The footage shows the two NASA astronauts performing their duties in the microgravity environment of space.
The repair of the robotic arm’s wrist joint is an essential maintenance task that ensures the continued operation and functionality of the station’s systems.
