Former World Number One Announces Withdrawal from Wimbledon Due to Injury
Carlos Alcaraz, the world number two men’s tennis player, has confirmed that he will not compete at Wimbledon due to a lingering right wrist injury. The 23-year-old, who is also the current world number one, had previously withdrawn from the Barcelona Open in May.
Alcaraz stated on social media that his recovery is progressing well, but he still requires additional time to regain full fitness. As a result, he will not participate in the grass-court swing at Queen’s and Wimbledon tournaments.
The absence of Alcaraz, who has won seven Grand Slam titles, including back-to-back Wimbledon crowns in 2023 and 2024, is expected to have a significant impact on fans and broadcasters alike. His rivalry with Italian player Jannik Sinner has garnered considerable attention in the tennis community.
Alcaraz’s withdrawal from the upcoming tournaments follows his recent win at the Australian Open, where he became the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam.
