Danish Football Player Collapses During Match, Conscious and Receiving Medical Attention

Christian Eriksen, a Danish football player, collapsed on the pitch during a match against Ukraine. According to the Danish Football Federation, Eriksen is conscious and receiving medical attention.

The federation released a statement on X, confirming that Eriksen was conscious and doing well under the circumstances. The friendly match was subsequently called off due to the incident.

In 2021, Eriksen experienced a similar collapse during a European championship match in Copenhagen. At the time, he received life-saving CPR treatment. Following the incident, Eriksen underwent medical procedures and was fitted with an Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (ICD), a special heart-starting device.

The ICD is a medical implant designed to prevent sudden cardiac death by delivering electrical shocks to the heart when necessary. The Danish Football Federation has not provided further details on Eriksen’s current condition or the cause of his collapse.

Eriksen was playing for Denmark in a non-qualifying match against Ukraine, as neither country qualified for this year’s World Cup.
