US Citizen Pleads Guilty to Murder Charges in Colorado Attack
A US citizen, Mohamed Soliman, has pleaded guilty to murder charges related to an attack on demonstrators supporting Israeli captives held in Gaza in June 2025. The incident occurred in Boulder, Colorado, where Soliman allegedly threw Molotov cocktails at a crowd of protesters.
Soliman’s family, including his wife Hayam El Gamal and their five children, have been the subject of controversy following the attack. Authorities had previously announced plans to deport the family, citing their association with Soliman, who is accused of carrying out the attack.
However, in April 2025, a judge ordered the family’s release from immigration detention after they were held for 10 months. The family has consistently denied any knowledge of the attack and has condemned it as unjust.
Soliman faces over 100 state criminal charges related to the incident and has been sentenced to life in prison. He has also been charged with federal hate crime crimes. In a statement, Soliman’s victims’ sons expressed their desire for him not to be allowed to see his family again due to his role in their mother’s death.
The White House had previously promised to deport Soliman’s family following the attack, but lawmakers and community groups have criticized this move as collective punishment. The family has maintained that they were unaware of the attack and have been released from detention on multiple occasions.
