Countries targeted by Trump since return to presidency

US President Donald Trump’s Administration Launches Full-Scale Offensive Against Iran

President Trump has initiated a full-scale offensive against the Iranian government, just over a year after returning to office. The attacks, which began on Saturday morning Tehran time, have resulted in at least 201 civilian casualties, according to the Iranian Red Crescent.

The US strikes, described as “major combat operations” aimed at regime change in Tehran, appear to be more extensive than a previous US attack on Iran in June 2025. Both US attacks on Iran are considered illegal under international law.

In addition to the attacks on Iran, the Trump administration has carried out an attack on Venezuela in January 2026, targeting the capital city of Caracas and abducting President Nicolas Maduro. The Venezuelan minister of defence reported that 83 people were killed in the attack, including members of the Venezuelan and Cuban security services, as well as civilians.

The US has also conducted at least 45 strikes on alleged drug trafficking vessels in Latin America and the Caribbean since September, resulting in at least 151 civilian casualties, according to a tally from the watchdog group Airwars. The Trump administration has framed these strikes as an effort to combat regional narcotics trafficking.

Furthermore, the Trump administration has stepped up military operations in Africa, expanding collaboration with local governments and carrying out air strikes under the guise of counterterrorism. In Nigeria, President Trump has carried out a series of attacks and deployed 100 US military personnel to train Nigerian forces, citing concerns about a “genocide” of Christians by Muslim groups.

The Trump administration has also expanded US military engagement in Somalia, where it has long been involved in counterterrorism efforts.
