England drew 1-1 with Uruguay in a pre-World Cup friendly at Wembley Stadium on Friday. Ben White scored the opening goal for England, but his team’s lead was short-lived as he gave away a penalty in stoppage time that allowed Uruguay to equalize.
In other matches, Germany defeated Switzerland 4-3, while the Netherlands beat Norway 2-1. Mikel Oyarzabal scored two goals for Spain in their 3-0 win over Serbia.
Ben White’s recall to the England team was met with some negative reactions from fans at Wembley, where he played alongside Cole Palmer and Fikayo Tomori. White’s goal came after a corner kick by Palmer, but his subsequent mistake allowed Uruguay to level the score.
Germany’s victory over Switzerland was marked by the performance of Liverpool’s Florian Wirtz, who scored two goals and provided two assists. The match saw Germany come from behind twice, with Wirtz scoring the winner in the 83rd minute.
In a separate match, the Netherlands defeated Norway 2-1 at home. Mikel Oyarzabal also played for Spain, scoring two goals in their 3-0 win over Serbia.
