FIFA Rejects Irans Request for Relocation of World Cup Games

FIFA Has Rejected Iran’s Request to Relocate World Cup Matches from US to Mexico

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has confirmed that FIFA has declined Iran’s request to relocate its World Cup matches from the United States to Mexico due to logistical concerns. According to Sheinbaum, FIFA ultimately decided that the matches cannot be moved from their original venues, citing complications in logistics.

Sheinbaum made the statement at a news conference in Mexico City on Friday, reiterating FIFA’s stance on the matter. The Iranian Football Federation (FFIRI) had previously requested the relocation of its games out of the US, but FIFA has maintained that all World Cup fixtures will proceed as scheduled.

The matches between Iran and other teams are set to take place in the US West Coast, with two games scheduled for Los Angeles and one for Seattle. Mexico was initially considered a potential host for Iran’s fixtures, but Sheinbaum’s comments have reaffirmed FIFA’s decision.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino had also previously stated that Iran would be participating in the World Cup, despite concerns raised by the Iranian Football Federation over player safety and security in the US. The situation has been complicated by recent tensions between the US and Iran, but it appears that FIFA will proceed with the original plan.
