FIFA World Cup Lineup Complete as Qualification Process Concludes
The 2026 FIFA World Cup lineup has been finalized, with 48 nations set to participate in the tournament hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Iraq secured its spot after defeating Bolivia 2-1 in the second final of the FIFA Playoff tournament held in Mexico. The Democratic Republic of the Congo emerged victorious in the first final, beating Jamaica 1-0.
The European quota was completed with four teams: Turkiye, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sweden, and Czechia. These nations will join other participating countries, including Argentina, Cape Verde, Curacao, Jordan, and Uzbekistan, which are making their World Cup debut.
The tournament will feature a record 104 matches across 16 venues in the three host nations. The 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to be the largest edition of the event, with fans eagerly anticipating the start of the competition.
The teams have been divided into 12 groups, with each group featuring six participating countries. Group A includes Mexico, South Korea, and Czechia, while Team USA will compete alongside Australia, Paraguay, and Turkiye in Group J. Canada’s path to qualification is also challenging, as it faces Switzerland, Qatar, and Bosnia in Group H.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to begin on June 11, with Mexico City hosting the opening match against South Africa. The tournament will feature a mix of experienced teams and debutants, setting the stage for an exciting competition.
