Fighting erupts in eastern Yemen near Saudi Arabian border

Saudi Arabia Accused by Separatist Group in Yemen Conflict

A group claiming to represent southern Yemen, known as the Southern Transitional Council (STC), has accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out an airstrike on their forces near the border with Saudi Arabia.

According to reports, the STC claims that Saudi warplanes targeted their positions in the Al Bayda region. The exact number of casualties is not yet confirmed.

The STC is a separatist group seeking greater autonomy for southern Yemen, which has been embroiled in a conflict with the internationally recognized government since 2015. The conflict has involved multiple parties, including Saudi Arabia and its allies, as well as Houthi rebels and other groups.

Saudi Arabia has not commented on the allegations made by the STC. However, the kingdom has been involved in the conflict in Yemen for several years, providing military support to the government of President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi.

The STC has previously accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out airstrikes on its positions, but these claims have not been independently verified. The conflict in Yemen has resulted in significant human suffering and displacement, with estimates suggesting that over 24 million people require humanitarian assistance.

The situation in southern Yemen remains volatile, with multiple parties involved in the conflict. The STC continues to seek greater autonomy for the region, while Saudi Arabia maintains its support for the government of President Hadi.
