Four aid workers injured in Sudans Kordofan by RSF drone attack

A drone attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has resulted in the deaths of at least three aid workers and injuries to four others, according to reports from the Sudan Doctors Network. The incident occurred on Thursday while an aid convoy was traveling through the Kartala area en route to Kadugli and Dilling.

The RSF, along with its ally, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North, targeted the convoy carrying food and humanitarian supplies. The attack has been condemned by the Sudan Doctors Network as a “blatant violation of international humanitarian law” and a “violation of all norms prohibiting attacks on humanitarian workers.”

This incident is the second such attack in less than a month, following the shelling of a United Nations aid convoy in Al-Rahad. The network has called for urgent pressure from the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to ensure the protection of aid convoys and their workers.

The RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have been engaged in a civil war since April 2023, resulting in thousands of deaths and millions of displaced people. The conflict has also led to reports of mass killings, rape, abductions, and looting in areas controlled by the RSF.

A recent report by the UN’s Independent International Fact-Finding Mission for the Sudan found that the RSF carried out a “coordinated campaign of destruction” against non-Arab communities in el-Fasher during its 18-month siege of the city. The report determined that the RSF committed at least three criteria of what constitutes genocide, including killing members of protected ethnic groups and causing serious bodily harm.

The United States has announced sanctions on three RSF officials for their roles in the “horrific campaign” of the siege and capture of el-Fasher.
