Gaza Ceasefire Fails to Bring Relief Amid Ongoing Israeli Bombings

Gaza City Residents Describe Ongoing Living Conditions Amid Conflict

Residents of Gaza City are expressing frustration and worry about their living conditions, which remain unchanged despite a recent ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel. Mahmoud Abdel Aal, who is currently residing in a tent, stated that strikes continue daily, with no significant change since the implementation of the ceasefire.

According to the United Nations, over 80% of Gaza’s infrastructure has been destroyed, resulting in collapsed water and electricity networks, as well as waste management systems. Hospitals operate minimally when functioning at all, while educational activities are limited to occasional initiatives.

The situation is further exacerbated by ongoing Israeli attacks, which have resulted in the deaths of at least 463 Palestinians since the ceasefire began in October last year. A recent air strike on a home in central Gaza killed five members of the Houli family, according to the Gaza civil defense agency.

Nivine Ahmad, a 47-year-old resident living in a displacement camp, expressed her desire to return to her home in Gaza City, where she hopes to live with her family in a prefabricated unit with electricity and water. “We miss real life,” she said. “I pictured living with my family in a prefabricated unit, with electricity and water instead of our bombed home.”

The situation in Gaza continues to be dire, with daily bombings persisting despite a decrease in intensity since the ceasefire. The international community is urged to provide support to those affected by the ongoing conflict.

In related news, US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff announced the second phase of President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan on Wednesday, which has resulted in additional casualties in Gaza.
