Gaza Siege Breakthrough Mission Underway in 2025 Operation

Two filmmakers, Carlos Perez from Mexico and Australian Juliet Lamont, are part of the Global Sumud Flotilla, which set sail in September 2025 from Barcelona, Tunis, and Sicily. The flotilla consists of 50 civilian vessels aiming to deliver aid and establish a humanitarian corridor to Gaza.

The journey has been marked by varying experiences for the crew members. Perez is on board the Hio, while Lamont is on the Wahoo. As the flotilla approaches Gaza, Israel has issued warnings about an active combat zone. Despite these warnings, the boats have continued their route.

On September 2025, water cannons were used to strike the ships, and some vessels suddenly disappeared from radar. The crew members of several boats were subsequently arrested. These events are documented in “The Flotilla Diaries,” a film by Dasa Raimanova.

Perez and Lamont have shared their firsthand accounts of the flotilla’s journey, describing experiences of intimidation, abuse, and imprisonment. Their testimonies provide insight into the challenges faced by those involved in the flotilla’s mission to deliver aid to Gaza.
