Thousands of Pilgrims Arrive in Saudi Arabia for Hajj
A large number of pilgrims from around the world have arrived in Saudi Arabia to participate in the annual Hajj pilgrimage. The event, one of the five pillars of Islam, is expected to draw over 1.5 million participants, with more anticipated arrivals. According to officials, the pilgrims have begun their journey by circling the cube-shaped Kaaba in the Grand Mosque, a ritual that marks the start of the pilgrimage.
The Hajj takes place against the backdrop of a fragile ceasefire in the Iran war and a global energy crisis. Volunteers are providing assistance to pilgrims, including water and misting fans, as temperatures soar. Many pilgrims have described the experience as transformative and deeply meaningful.
Pilgrims from various countries, including Egypt, have expressed their gratitude for being able to participate in the event. Some have noted that the Hajj is a physically demanding and spiritually challenging experience. One pilgrim, Youssef Chouhoud, stated that he drew inspiration from observing fellow pilgrims engaging in acts of charity and kindness.
The pilgrimage will continue with pilgrims gathering on the plain of Arafat, where they will stand in prayer and ask for forgiveness. The event is also being closely watched by international leaders, who are discussing a potential “memorandum of understanding” that could ease an energy crisis triggered by recent tensions between the US, Iran, and Israel.
As the Hajj continues, pilgrims are relying on their faith to guide them through the experience.
