Pilgrims Gather in Mecca for Annual Hajj Ritual
Thousands of Muslims from around the world have converged on Saudi Arabia to participate in the annual Hajj pilgrimage. A recent timelapse video captured the moment when pilgrims performed Tawaf, a ritual that involves circling the Kaaba inside Mecca’s Grand Mosque.
The event marks an important milestone in the Islamic calendar and is considered one of the five pillars of Islam. According to tradition, it is obligatory for Muslims who are physically and financially able to make the pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime.
The pilgrimage, which takes place over a period of several days, involves a series of rituals and ceremonies that are designed to promote spiritual growth and unity among pilgrims. The Tawaf ritual, in particular, is a key component of the Hajj, as it allows pilgrims to demonstrate their devotion to Allah and seek forgiveness for past sins.
The timelapse video shows hundreds of pilgrims gathered around the Kaaba, performing the intricate movements required for Tawaf. The scene is one of great spiritual intensity, with many pilgrims visibly moved by the experience.
As the Hajj continues, millions more Muslims from around the world are expected to join in the festivities, making it one of the largest gatherings of people on the planet.
