India Defeats Namibia by 93 Runs in T20 World Cup Group A Match
Defending champions India secured their second consecutive victory in the Twenty20 World Cup, defeating Namibia by 93 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday. In response to Namibia’s total of 116, India scored 209-9.
Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya contributed half-centuries for India, with Kishan scoring 61 and Pandya scoring 52. The team’s batting lineup was bolstered by Samson, who hit three sixes before being dismissed in the second over.
India’s bowling performance was led by Varun Chakravarthy, who claimed 3-7 wickets. Jasprit Bumrah bowled four tidy overs and claimed one wicket, while Axar Patel and Pandya each claimed two wickets.
Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus expressed disappointment with the team’s performance, stating that they struggled to cope with India’s bowling after a spell from Varun Chakravarthy broke their momentum. The match marked India’s second successive victory in Group A, putting them at the top of the group due to their superior net run-rate.
India will face Pakistan in a crucial match on Sunday, while Namibia will look to bounce back from this defeat.
