India Secures Group A Win Over Netherlands at T20 World Cup
India completed their group stage campaign with a convincing win over Netherlands, securing 193-6 in their final group game at the T20 World Cup. The match took place in Ahmedabad and marked India’s third consecutive victory in the tournament.
The Netherlands team had previously shown promise against Pakistan in their opening game, but ultimately fell short. In contrast, India’s batting lineup performed well, with Shivam Dube scoring 66 off 31 deliveries, including 19 runs off the 16th over. The innings was also boosted by cameos from Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav.
India opener Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for his third consecutive duck in the tournament, but Hardik Pandya continued his fine form with a late onslaught of 30 runs off 21 deliveries. Wrist spinner Varun Chakravarthy led the bowling performance, taking 14-3 against Netherlands.
The Netherlands team was eventually bowled out for 176-7, with Dube also claiming two wickets, including that of Bas de Leede, the team’s top scorer in the innings. With this win, India has secured their place at the Super Eights stage and will face South Africa in their next match on Sunday.
India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav reflected on the team’s performance, stating that Dube had prepared for the slower bowlers and was able to maintain a high strike rate. The team is now looking forward to their next challenge against South Africa at the same venue.
