Iran accepts US offer for mediated peace talks with Pakistan

Iran Submits Response to US Proposal Amid Strained Truce

Iran has submitted its response to the latest United States proposal aimed at ending the war, mediated by Pakistan. The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has conveyed Tehran’s demands to the American side through mediator Pakistan.

According to Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Iran’s response includes the release of frozen assets abroad and the lifting of sanctions. The points raised are described as “Iranian demands that have been firmly defended by the Iranian negotiating team in every round of negotiations.”

The US proposal, which was presented several weeks ago, included a five-point list outlining conditions for the ceasefire to be lifted. These conditions include formal peace negotiations with Iran and the transfer of its stockpile of highly enriched uranium to the US.

In contrast, Iran’s response emphasizes the need for an end to hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon, where Israeli forces continue their invasion despite a ceasefire. The Iranian proposal also calls for the lifting of the US naval blockade of Iranian ports.

The US has refused to release even 25 percent of Iran’s frozen assets or pay reparations for war damage. Instead, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent plans to call on G7 finance ministers to follow the US sanctions regime.

Iranian officials have stated that they are “fully prepared for any eventuality” if the conflict escalates again. The situation remains fragile, with US President Donald Trump warning that “the Clock is Ticking” for Iran and urging them to engage in formal peace negotiations.
