Iranian Red Crescent Society Reports Widespread Damage in Ongoing Conflict
The Iranian Red Crescent Society has reported that nearly 20,000 civilian buildings, including approximately 16,000 residential units, have been affected by the ongoing war with the United States and Israel. The organization also stated that 77 healthcare facilities have been impacted.
According to Mojtaba Khaledi, a spokesman for the Iranian Red Crescent Society, some of the affected healthcare facilities are currently out of order, preventing patients from being admitted. In some cases, patients were in surgery rooms or undergoing medical operations when the facilities were hit by attacks.
The society also reported that 16 of its centers were affected, with personnel relocated to other locations to continue rescue operations. Additionally, 65 schools and educational facilities across the country have been impacted since the start of the conflict.
Khaledi pointed out that a number of residential buildings in the immediate area had their windows broken or sustained additional damage following an attack on an administrative building related to a bank in the capital.
Iranian armed forces, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), have signaled that banks and economic interests of the US and Israel across the region, as well as technology companies offering military applications, are legitimate targets.
The Iranian government has assured that it has strong stockpiles of essential goods, including foodstuffs and medicine, as well as contingency plans in motion to import necessities. The conflict has resulted in over 12,000 reported injuries and more than 1,250 confirmed deaths, with most of the fatalities being civilians.
In response to the ongoing violence, Iranian officials have repeatedly emphasized the civilian toll of the conflict. Meanwhile, the Israeli army has reported killing over 1,900 military personnel and commanders during its ongoing air attacks, although it has not commented on reports of civilian casualties.
