Iran War Day 41: Tensions Rise in the Middle East Region

Lebanon Declares National Day of Mourning Following Israeli Attacks

A national day of mourning has been declared in Lebanon after a series of Israeli attacks resulted in at least 254 fatalities and over 1,165 injuries on the same day. Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has mobilized all available resources to address the situation.

According to reports, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Lebanon is not part of the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran. US Vice President JD Vance echoed this sentiment, stating that no such promise was made. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who played a key role in mediating the ceasefire, had previously indicated that the deal included a pause in fighting in Lebanon.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi cited Sharif’s comments to emphasize that the terms of the agreement are clear. He warned that Washington must choose between maintaining a ceasefire or continuing the conflict via Israel, stating that it cannot have both.
