Irans Peace Proposal Rejected by US President Trump

US President Donald Trump Rejects Iran’s Counterproposal to End War

On Sunday, Tehran sent a response to an earlier US proposal to end the war through mediator Pakistan. The US President has since rejected Iran’s counterproposal, which was transmitted via Pakistan.

According to reports, Trump expressed dissatisfaction with Iran’s response on his Truth Social platform, stating that “Iran has been playing games with the United States and the rest of the world for 47 years.” He also claimed that Iran’s proposal is “totally unacceptable.”

The US and Iran have been engaged in talks since a temporary ceasefire began on April 8. However, negotiations have stalled, with Tehran seeking a permanent end to the war and Trump insisting on certain conditions being met before talks can proceed.

Iran’s counterproposal includes demands for an end to hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon, where Israel has carried out significant strikes. The proposal also focuses on ensuring maritime security in the Gulf and Strait of Hormuz before moving on to secondary negotiations about wider issues, such as nuclear capabilities and support for proxy groups in the Middle East.

According to Iranian media reports, Tehran’s response includes a demand for the US to lift sanctions on Iranian oil exports and release frozen overseas assets. The country has also reportedly demanded that the US end its naval blockade on Iranian ports.

The details of Iran’s proposal have varied among sources, with some reporting that Tehran proposes to dilute highly enriched uranium and transfer it to a third country, while others suggest that the country is willing to suspend enrichment but for a shorter period than proposed by the US. Iran has also rejected dismantling its nuclear facilities.

The situation remains tense, with both sides continuing to attack ships and countries in the Gulf region have come under attack again. The outcome of the negotiations now lies with Washington.
