Israeli forces kill Palestinian father and daughter in Gaza conflict

Violence Continues in Gaza and Occupied West Bank Amid Ongoing Conflict

A father and his daughter were killed in an Israeli drone attack on Saturday in central Khan Younis, southern Gaza. The incident occurred early in the day, according to reports from Al Jazeera correspondents on the ground.

Separately, another person was killed and a young girl wounded in a separate attack later that day in Khan Younis, also reported by Al Jazeera.

Israeli forces have continued to carry out air strikes, artillery shelling, and naval bombardment on Gaza since an October 11 “ceasefire”. The Israeli army has also advanced east of Gaza City, with heavy gunfire reported in the area.

In addition, two more people were wounded in the past 48 hours, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Israeli warplanes struck several locations east of the Tuffah neighbourhood near Gaza City, while the Israeli navy fired heavy machineguns and shells towards the coast of Gaza City. The Rafah border crossing remains closed, which was shut down by Israel amid its attacks on Iran.

Thousands of Palestinians remain blocked from traveling for treatment due to restrictions at the Karem Abu Salem crossing. Nearly all of Gaza’s population of over two million people was displaced during Israel’s war on the territory.

Humanitarian assistance is crucial for the enclave, with nearly all residents relying on aid due to shortages of medicine, reconstruction materials, food and water inside the Strip. Since the ceasefire in Gaza, 640 Palestinians have been killed and at least 1,700 wounded, according to the Health Ministry.

In the occupied West Bank, a Palestinian injured by live fire near the illegal Karmei Tzur settlement was treated by teams from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society. Three more Palestinians were injured after being physically assaulted by Israeli settlers in the Ras al-Ahmar area.

Israeli forces conducted raids in several towns across the West Bank on Saturday, including Qaffin and Kafr al-Labad. A Palestinian man was also injured after being assaulted by Israeli soldiers near the village of Azmut.

The latest United Nations figures report at least 1,094 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops and settlers in the West Bank since October 2023.
