Luka Doncic’s 41-point performance against the Brooklyn Nets was marred by a technical foul, resulting in a one-game suspension. The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Nets 116-99 on Friday night.
Doncic scored a game-high 41 points and grabbed eight rebounds during the Lakers’ 11th victory in 12 games. Austin Reaves contributed 15 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter, helping the Lakers pull away from the young Nets. LeBron James added 14 points and eight assists for the Lakers.
Josh Minott scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds for Brooklyn, which extended its losing streak to 10 games. Nic Claxton and Ziaire Williams each scored 16 points, but were held out of the fourth quarter along with Noah Clowney.
Doncic hit five three-pointers during his 15th 40-point game of the season. However, he was involved in a technical altercation with Williams in the third quarter, resulting in two technical fouls. Unless Doncic’s technical is rescinded, he will be suspended for one game. Bronny James played alongside his father LeBron for the second consecutive game, earning his first father-son assist on a three-pointer in the second quarter.
The Lakers’ victory marked their return from a 5-1 road trip that has placed them third in the Western Conference standings. The Nets have struggled with consistency, losing to the Lakers despite leading in the fourth quarter of their 20th loss in 22 games overall.
