Man United beats 10-man Tottenham 2-0 in Premier League match

Manchester United secured a 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford, extending their perfect start under Michael Carrick to four games. Bryan Mbeumo scored the first goal in the 34th minute, followed by Bruno Fernandes’ goal nine minutes from time. The victory marked an end to Manchester United’s eight-game winless run against Spurs.

Tottenham captain Christian Romero was sent off in the 29th minute after lunging at Casemiro with his ankle. The red card came just days after Romero made a social media post criticizing the club’s hierarchy, which led to internal disciplinary action. Romero will now serve a four-match suspension for his second red card of the season and sixth overall.

The match saw Manchester United dominate possession despite being down to 10 men for most of the game. Goals from Mbeumo and Fernandes were ruled out due to offside calls, but the home side eventually made their numerical advantage count. Amad Diallo and Matheus Cunha had their goals disallowed for similar reasons.

The win moved Manchester United closer to third-placed Aston Villa and increased their gap over sixth-placed Liverpool. A top-five finish is likely to secure a Champions League spot, as English teams have performed well in European competition this season.
