Manchester City Charged with 115 Alleged Financial Rule Breaches
Manchester City Football Club has been charged with 115 alleged breaches of financial rules by the Premier League. The charges cover a nine-year period from 2009 to 2018. Additionally, the club is accused of failing to cooperate with the Premier League’s investigation into its finances.
The case is currently pending, despite an independent commission hearing taking place over a year ago. Manchester City has denied any wrongdoing and has stated that it will provide its side of the story once a verdict is delivered.
Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has expressed his intention to share his perspective on the matter once a ruling is made. “I can’t say much until we have a ruling,” he said. “Once we do, I’ll be able to tell everything I’ve wanted to say for the past three years.”
The club’s valuation has increased significantly since its takeover by Abu Dhabi-based owners in 2008. Manchester City has enjoyed sustained success during this period, winning numerous titles and trophies, including eight Premier League titles and four FA Cups.
Khaldoon Al Mubarak stated that owner Sheikh Mansour has no intention of selling the club’s parent company, City Football Group, which is valued at around $10 billion. According to Al Mubarak, Sheikh Mansour views Manchester City as a long-term investment, and believes it would be difficult to sell the business for less than $10 billion in today’s market.
The Premier League has announced that it will deliver its verdict on the charges against Manchester City once the process is complete.
