Mourinho denies talks over potential Real Madrid managerial role

Real Madrid Consider Potential Return for Jose Mourinho

Real Madrid are reportedly considering a return to the club with former coach Jose Mourinho, who led the team from 2010 to 2013. The news comes as current interim coach Alvaro Arbeloa is set to be replaced.

Mourinho, 63, has denied any contact with Real Madrid despite speculation that he may be on the shortlist for a new coaching position. “No one from Real Madrid has spoken to me,” Mourinho stated in a press conference on Friday. “I’ve been in football for so many years and I’m used to these things… but there’s nothing from Real Madrid.”

Mourinho, who guided Real to the 2012 La Liga title, has expressed his commitment to his current role as Benfica coach, stating that he has a year remaining on his contract. “I have a year to go on my Benfica contract, and that’s all,” he added.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez appointed Arbeloa in January to replace Xabi Alonso, who lasted just a few months at the helm. The team currently trails La Liga leaders Barcelona by 11 points with five matches remaining, having been knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.
