New York, New Jersey World Cup Train and Shuttle Bus Ticket Prices Reduced

New Jersey and New York Officials Announce Reduced Train and Bus Ticket Prices for World Cup Commuters

In an effort to make attending the FIFA World Cup more accessible, officials from New Jersey and New York have announced reduced ticket prices for train and bus travel to the joint venue in East Rutherford, New Jersey. As of today, round-trip train tickets will cost $98, down from the previously set price of $150.

The move follows a significant backlash from fans planning to attend World Cup games at the stadium, where the tournament’s final will take place on July 19. The reduced fare is still higher than the regular fare of $13 for a round trip from New York City’s Penn Station.

According to NJ Transit officials, the cost of transporting fans to and from the stadium over the duration of the tournament is estimated at $62 million. While outside grants have covered only $14 million of these expenses, officials claim that the reduced ticket price will help them recoup their costs.

In addition to the reduced train ticket prices, shuttle bus fares from New York City to the World Cup venue have also been lowered. The cost of a round-trip shuttle bus ticket will now be $20, down from the initial price of $80.

The NYNJ Host Committee has announced that 20% of bus tickets for each match will be reserved exclusively for New York state residents, while the remaining tickets will be available to all match-going fans. The US is co-hosting the tournament with Mexico and Canada, which begins on June 11.
