Pakistan Advances to T20 World Cup Super Eights with Win Over Namibia

Pakistan Secures Super Eights Spot with Dominant Win Over Namibia

In a match played at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo on Wednesday, Pakistan defeated Namibia by 102 runs to secure their spot in the Super Eights stage of the 2026 T20 World Cup. Electing to bat first, Pakistan scored 199-9, with Sahibzada Farhan hitting his first T20 international century.

Farhan, a 29-year-old right-hander, was unbeaten on exactly 100 after facing 58 balls, hitting 11 fours and four sixes. Usman Tariq registered his career-best bowling figures with 4-16 for Pakistan. Namibia’s batting lineup struggled to keep pace with the Pakistani team, ultimately being dismissed for 97.

The victory confirmed Pakistan’s place in the Super Eights stage of the tournament, which is being held in India and Sri Lanka. This win marked a significant milestone for Farhan, who has now scored five T20 centuries in domestic and international cricket since the start of 2025. He followed in the footsteps of other notable players, including Pathum Nissanka from Sri Lanka and Yuvraj Sama from Canada.

Pakistan will face New Zealand on Sunday in Colombo to conclude their group stage matches. The team’s performance has been marked by consistency, with Farhan’s achievement being a notable highlight. Pakistan’s captain, Salman Agha, also contributed significantly to the team’s success, hitting 38 off 23 balls.
