Pat Cummins ruled out of Australias T20 World Cup due to injury

Australian Fast Bowler Pat Cummins to Miss ICC Twenty20 World Cup Due to Injury

Pat Cummins will not participate in the upcoming ICC Twenty20 World Cup due to a nagging back injury. Ben Dwarshuis has been named as his replacement in the tournament, which is set to begin next month.

According to selector Tony Dodemaide, Cummins’ injury prevented him from recovering in time for the tournament. Dodemaide stated that Dwarshuis offers a left-arm pace option, dynamic fielding, and late-order hitting, making him an ideal replacement.

Cummins played only one of the five Ashes Tests against England but was included in the provisional World Cup squad in hopes of his availability during the Super Eight stage. Matt Renshaw has replaced Matthew Short as part of the team’s lineup, while Steve Smith was unable to secure a spot despite his strong form in the Big Bash League.

The Australian team is currently playing a three-match T20 series in Pakistan as part of their preparation for the World Cup. Dodemaide also stated that Renshaw provides extra middle-order support and offers a point of difference with his left-handed batting style.

Australia’s squad for the T20 World Cup includes Mitchell Marsh, Travis Head, Xavier Bartlett, Josh Hazlewood, Cooper Connolly, Josh Inglis, Tim David, Matthew Kuhnemann, Ben Dwarshuis, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, Matthew Renshaw, Nathan Ellis, Marcus Stoinis, and Adam Zampa. The team will face Ireland in their opening match on February 11 in Colombo.
