Pentagon Releases First Tranche of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Files

US President Trump Orders Release of Classified UFO Files

The US Department of Defense has released its first batch of previously classified files on unidentified flying objects (UFOs), following an order from US President Donald Trump in February. The release, which took place on Friday, included 162 files dating back several decades, covering documents from various government agencies such as the FBI, the Department of State, and NASA.

The files were made available online through a new website, featuring white typewriter-style font against a black background. A statement from the Pentagon noted that many of the released files had been screened for security purposes and have not yet undergone analysis to determine any anomalies.

Several government agencies, including the Energy Department, NASA, the FBI, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, were involved in the release. The initiative was framed as part of an effort to increase transparency, following Trump’s previous orders to release records related to other high-profile topics.

The files released on Friday contained no new information beyond what had already been publicly known. They included documents such as an FBI interview with a drone pilot who reported seeing a “linear object” in the sky and a NASA photograph from the Apollo 17 mission in 1972 showing three dots in a triangular formation.

Critics have accused Trump of using this release to divert attention away from other issues, including the Department of Justice’s handling of investigative files related to financier Jeffrey Epstein. The impact of the new documents remains to be seen, with no clear immediate revelations emerging.
