A Cessna Aircraft Crashes in South Sudan’s Capital
Preliminary reports suggest that a plane operated by CityLink Aviation may have crashed due to adverse weather conditions. The incident occurred on Monday, resulting in the loss of all 14 lives on board.
According to the country’s civil aviation authority, initial investigations indicate that the aircraft, a Cessna 208 Caravan, lost communication while flying from Yei to Juba International Airport. The passengers and crew included two Kenyan nationals and 12 South Sudanese individuals.
The crash site, located approximately 20km outside of Juba, has been confirmed by video footage showing the remains of the aircraft in flames. A team has been dispatched to the scene to gather information and provide support to emergency services.
The aviation authority has released a statement regarding the incident, confirming that it is currently investigating the cause of the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be provided as more information becomes available.
