Qatar Airways Announces Limited Flight Schedule Due to Airspace Restrictions
Qatar Airways has announced that it will operate a limited number of flights between Doha, Qatar’s capital city, and dozens of destinations worldwide from March 18 to March 28. The airline stated on Monday that its scheduled flight operations remain suspended due to the closure of Qatari airspace.
The airline plans to resume operations once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority announces the safe full reopening of Qatari airspace. In a statement, Qatar Airways expressed its commitment to supporting passengers and reuniting them with their families and loved ones.
Air travel disruptions have been reported in several countries in the Middle East since the US-Israeli military assault on Iran on February 28. The conflict has led to retaliatory Iranian missile and drone strikes across the region, including in Gulf countries that serve as major air travel hubs.
The United Arab Emirates reported a gradual resumption of flights at Dubai International Airport after a “drone-related incident” sparked a fuel tank fire nearby. Authorities have contained the fire, and no injuries were reported. The airport has resumed flights to and from selected destinations.
Qatar Airways’ limited flight schedule will operate to and from cities in Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, North and South America, and the Asia Pacific.
