Qatar denies receiving warning of Iranian missile attacks

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that there is currently no communication with Iran. According to Majed al-Ansari, a spokesperson for the ministry, Iranian authorities did not notify Qatar of incoming missile attacks. The attacks on Iran have sparked a retaliatory campaign across the Gulf region.

Iran has targeted 12 countries in the Middle East, including Qatar. Al-Ansari stated that Qatari territory was not limited to military sites but also included all areas under its jurisdiction. He reported that Qatar’s military successfully thwarted attempts to attack Hamad International Airport in Doha, with missiles being downed by defensive measures.

As a result of the conflict, approximately 8,000 people were stranded in Qatar due to airspace closures. Iranian jets were shot down on Monday after entering Qatari airspace despite warnings. Authorities are still searching for their crews.

The Iranian ambassador in Qatar was summoned to the Foreign Ministry and warned that further attacks could lead to deterioration in relations between the two countries. In response to the conflict, QatarEnergy has suspended production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and associated products. The company announced on Tuesday that it would stop producing certain downstream products, including urea, polymers, methanol, aluminium, and others.

Since Saturday, Qatar’s Ministry of Defence reported detecting the launch of three cruise missiles, 101 ballistic missiles, and 39 suicide drones towards its airspace.
