Qatars Interior Minister Describes Security Situation as Stable Amid Tensions with Iran

Qatar’s Interior Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad has stated that his country is prepared to take measures to ensure its stability amid ongoing tensions with Iran. In an interview with Qatar Television, Sheikh Khalifa reported that the security situation in Qatar remains stable, and authorities have a plan in place to respond to potential threats.

According to Sheikh Khalifa, Qatar’s early warning system has been effective in detecting reports of falling missile fragments at over 600 sites across the country. The minister also stated that Qatar has sufficient water reserves to last for several months and food supplies that will cover the nation’s needs for approximately 18 months.

Sheikh Khalifa made these comments amid a recent escalation of Iranian attacks on Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, which have been attributed to the ongoing conflict between the United States and Israel. The strikes have targeted civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas facilities, leading to a slowdown in regional energy production.

The United Nations Security Council has recently passed a resolution condemning the Iranian attacks, with Qatar’s ambassador to the UN, Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, describing them as “a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter”. The situation remains fluid, with ongoing tensions between Iran and GCC countries.
