Real Madrid loses to Getafe, falls four points behind Barcelona in La Liga

Real Madrid Suffer 1-0 Defeat at Santiago Bernabeu

Getafe secured a surprise 1-0 win over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Monday, handing Los Blancos their second consecutive loss in La Liga. The victory lifted Getafe to 11th place in the league table.

Martin Satriano scored the only goal of the game with a first-half volley, which dropped invitingly into the top left corner after a half-cleared cross. Real Madrid dominated possession but failed to capitalize on their chances, squandering several opportunities in an intense contest.

Real Madrid forward Franco Mastantuono was sent off in stoppage time for apparent dissent, adding to the team’s woes. The match saw several incidents of dissent and controversy, including a painful collision between Antonio Rudiger and Diego Rico.

The defeat left Real Madrid four points behind leaders Barcelona. With French superstar Kylian Mbappe currently out with a knee injury, Real Madrid lined up with Gonzalo Garcia in attack alongside Vinicius Junior. Despite making changes at halftime, the team was unable to turn the game around.

Getafe’s win marked their first victory at the Bernabeu since 2008. “It’s very hard to get points when you come here,” said Getafe defender Kiko Femenia. “I have to congratulate the team for their work in defence, then we got our goal and we could even have scored another in the end.”

Real Madrid will look to bounce back from this defeat when they host Celta Vigo on Friday in La Liga, before facing Manchester City in the Champions League last 16.
