South Africa Secures Semifinal Spot with Five-Wicket Win Over Zimbabwe

In their final Super Eight match in New Delhi, India, South Africa defeated Zimbabwe by five wickets to secure a spot in the T20 World Cup semifinals. The match took place on Sunday and saw Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza deliver an all-round performance, scoring 73 runs and taking 3-29 with his off-spin.

South Africa’s batting lineup responded well, with Dewald Brevis hitting 42 off 18 balls to help the team reach 154-5 in 17.5 overs. The innings was marked by several key partnerships, including a 50-run stand between Brevis and David Miller before Zimbabwe struck twice more.

Zimbabwe’s total of 153-7 was scored despite losing several key players, including opener Brian Bennett, who had hit an unbeaten 97 in their previous match against India. Raza’s all-round performance was highlighted by his ability to take wickets at crucial moments, including the dismissal of Brevis and skipper Aiden Markram.

The win marked South Africa’s fifth consecutive victory in the tournament, leaving them as the only unbeaten side. They will now face New Zealand in the semifinals, which will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, India on Wednesday at 13:30 GMT.
