Tiger Woods Arrested for Suspected DUI in Florida Crash
Tiger Woods was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a rollover crash in Martin County, Florida. The incident occurred just before 2pm local time and involved Woods’ Land Rover, which clipped a truck’s trailer while attempting to pass it on a two-lane road.
According to authorities, Woods showed signs of impairment following the crash and was taken into custody. He was booked at the county jail in Stuart and released on bail eight hours later, as required by state law.
Woods had been traveling at high speeds on the residential road before the incident, which occurred near his home on Jupiter Island. The sheriff’s office stated that Woods took some kind of medication or drug, but a Breathalyser test showed no signs of alcohol.
The crash resulted in Woods’ car rolling onto its side, and he crawled out unharmed. Authorities reported that Woods was cooperative during the arrest process but declined to take a urine test, citing his right to do so.
This is not Woods’ first DUI arrest; he pleaded guilty to reckless driving in 2017 after being found asleep behind the wheel of his car with the engine still running and damage to his vehicle. He has also been involved in multiple car crashes throughout his career, including a recent incident in Los Angeles that resulted in multiple leg and ankle injuries.
Woods was scheduled to appear at the Masters tournament in April, which starts on April 9, and had previously announced plans to unveil a golf course project with Masters chairman Fred Ridley. His fitness for competition has been a subject of concern, as he recently underwent back surgery and has been working his way back to golf after a seventh back surgery in September.
