Tiger Woods Arrested for Suspected DUI in Florida
Tiger Woods was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a rollover crash in Martin County, Florida. The incident occurred just before 2pm local time and involved Woods’ Land Rover, which clipped a truck’s trailer and rolled onto its side.
According to authorities, Woods had been traveling at high speeds on a residential road when the accident happened. He showed signs of impairment after the crash and was taken into custody. Woods agreed to a Breathalyzer test, which indicated no presence of alcohol, but refused a urine test. As a result, he was arrested and booked at the county jail.
Woods was released on bail eight hours later, as required by state law. He had been held separate from other inmates while awaiting release. The sheriff’s office stated that Woods attempted to pass a pressure cleaner truck while driving on a two-lane road with a speed limit of 48 kilometers per hour.
The Land Rover swerved to avoid the collision but clipped the back end of the trailer, causing it to roll onto its side. Woods crawled out of the vehicle and was cooperative with authorities during the investigation. This is not Woods’ first DUI arrest; he pleaded guilty to reckless driving in 2017 after being found asleep behind the wheel.
Woods has been involved in several car crashes throughout his career, including a recent incident in February 2021 that resulted in multiple leg and ankle injuries. He had previously sustained injuries to his left knee and back during his golf career.
The arrest occurred just days before Woods was set to decide whether he was fit enough to play the Masters, which starts on April 9.
