Trump summons big and small oil companies to discuss Venezuelas oil potential

US White House to Host Meeting with Oil Executives on Venezuela Investment

The White House has invited a group of oil executives to discuss potential investment in Venezuela. The meeting, scheduled for Friday at 2:30pm, will feature representatives from major US oil companies such as Chevron, Exxon Mobil, and ConocoPhillips, as well as several smaller independent players.

According to the preliminary list of attendees, the meeting will focus on Venezuelan oil and the long-term relationship between the US and Venezuela. The White House has stated that a key factor in this involvement is the reduction of oil prices for American consumers.

Several companies with connections to Denver, Colorado, have been invited to attend the meeting. These include Continental Resources, HKN Inc, and Raisa Energy, which are all headquartered in the city. Tallgrass Energy and Aspect Holdings, also based in Denver, will be represented at the meeting as well.

The Department of Energy has declined to comment on the meeting. Representatives from some of the smaller firms have not responded to questions about previous discussions they may have had about Venezuela ahead of the meeting.

Industry experts note that while larger oil companies have experience operating in Venezuela due to its heavy oil reserves, smaller independent players will be familiar with lighter oil and shale deposits in other regions. These companies can move quickly and operate at lower costs, which could potentially bring new investment opportunities to the table.
