Twelve medical workers killed in Israeli strike on Lebanon health centre
A strike by Israel on a health centre in southern Lebanon has resulted in the deaths of 12 medical personnel, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health. The incident occurred late on Friday in the village of Burj Qalaouiyah, Bint Jbeil District.
The attack is part of an ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which began on March 2. The United States and Israel launched a joint assault on Iran on February 28. Lebanon has reported a total of 773 fatalities since the fighting resumed.
Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem stated that his group is prepared for a “long confrontation” with Israel. The Lebanese armed group also claimed responsibility for firing suicide drones against Israeli troops in the northern town of Ya’ara inside Israel on Friday, marking the 24th military operation announced by the group.
Iran has continued to retaliate against Israel, launching rocket and missile attacks early on Saturday that hit the Upper Galilee region of northern Israel. The Israeli public broadcaster Kan reported damage from these attacks, with several vehicles affected.
Rescue teams are currently searching for missing people following the attack in Burj Qalaouiyah. The Lebanese Health Ministry has condemned the strike and denounced violence against health workers.
