US and Iran Engage in Ongoing Conflict After 48 Days

US-Iran Talks Intensify with Pakistan’s Mediation

A high-level delegation from Pakistan, led by Field Marshal Asim Munir, has arrived in Tehran for talks with Iranian officials. The Pakistani army chief is expected to convey messages from the United States. Meanwhile, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has begun a regional tour that includes Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey.

According to Esmael Baghaei, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, communication between Tehran and Washington has continued since talks in Islamabad concluded on Sunday. On Wednesday, US officials expressed optimism about the possibility of a new round of negotiations in Islamabad.

The diplomatic efforts come as tensions between Iran and the United States have increased. Iran has warned that it may expand its response to the US naval blockade beyond its own waters. The US Senate recently rejected a measure to limit the war without congressional approval, indicating ongoing divisions within the US government.

Pakistan’s role as a mediator in the talks is notable, with the country having previously facilitated discussions between Tehran and Washington. The Pakistani delegation’s visit to Tehran marks the latest development in efforts to revive US-Iran negotiations.
