US and Israeli Attacks on Iran Spark Regional Conflict
Preliminary figures indicate 201 deaths and 747 injuries in Iran, while at least nine people have been killed and 121 injured in Israel. Explosions are reported in multiple countries across the Middle East.
The United States and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran on Saturday, prompting Tehran to retaliate with missile strikes against Israeli military facilities and US-operated bases in several countries. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claims to have targeted 27 bases in the region where US troops are deployed, as well as Israeli military sites.
The attacks have been reported across eight countries: Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Most of these strikes have been intercepted.
According to the Council on Foreign Relations, the US operates a network of military sites in the region, with at least 19 locations hosting permanent and temporary bases. The countries with the most US soldiers are Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
