US President Trump Cancels Iran Meeting Amid Protests

US President Donald Trump Cancels Meetings with Iranian Officials Amid Ongoing Protests

In a statement posted on his website, Truth Social, US President Donald Trump announced that he has cancelled all meetings with Iranian officials until the situation stabilizes. The cancellation comes amid ongoing protests in Iran, where demonstrators have been calling for action against the government.

Trump stated that “help is on the way” without providing further details. He also urged protesters to “take over your institutions,” suggesting that they should document the names of those responsible for violence and intimidation.

The US president has previously threatened military strikes against Iran as a means of pressuring the country into greater alignment with US demands. In recent days, he has warned that Iranian authorities’ response to protests could result in US attacks.

On Monday, Trump announced that any country doing business with Iran would be subject to a 25 percent tariff. Analysts have raised concerns about the potential consequences of such actions, including the possibility of violating international law and causing unforeseen effects within Iran.

Human rights groups outside of Iran have reported hundreds of deaths during the protests, while Iranian state media has stated that more than 100 security personnel have been killed. However, these figures cannot be independently verified due to an ongoing internet blackout in the country.
